Do porta potties freeze in winter?
Porta potties can freeze when temperatures stay below 32°F, because the tank holds water and chemical. In St. Charles County winters, which swing above and below freezing, we treat tanks with an antifreeze charge at each service so the waste stays liquid and the unit can still be pumped.
Do handwashing stations work in the cold?
Handwashing stations can freeze below about 32°F, which locks the foot pumps. For winter job sites we usually swap the water station for sanitizer dispensers, or schedule stations only for milder weeks. Indoor events and heated trailers avoid the problem entirely.
What changes on a winter job site?
On a winter job site, keep the path to the unit clear of snow and ice, place it out of the wind, and keep the truck access plowed for the weekly service. Ice storms can delay a route by a day; we call ahead when that happens.
